Desierto II, 2020

Desierto II (Desert II), 2020                                                                                            Quiote (maguey stalk), needle and ashlar.                                                                      120 x 288 x 32 cm.

The maguey stalk and ashlar are found objects during a trip I made to the desert in Torreón, México. The piece is a continuation of my interest towards the landscape, objects, and the idea of being; as well as, by formal aspects of the sculptural language such as balance, movement, weight and materials.

It rotates 360º, so it is a sculptural mobile without direction but in a constant search to find it and sway to try to position itself in the world, like if the sculpture were in search of its being. Something that aims to recall and share the feeling of being in the desert.
