Cuatro veces la misma cosa, 2020

Cuatro veces la misma cosa (Four times the same thing), 2020                                  Acrylic on primed cardboard                                                                                              85.5 x 48 cm each panel (the width measurement is not exact as each one has small variations).

Quadriptych made from four still images of the video “Medio día -Brussels-” (https://vimeo.com/433223566). It consists of an abstract composition with fixed shots of the walls of Brussels where changes in hue are registered every time a cloud is opposed between the sun and the point where I am recording.

The four paintings reflect the chromatic perception deformed by the series of filters that are passed through to reach the final result. From my eye it passes to the camera, to later observe it on the computer monitor, reinterpret it, and return it again to something physical. It gives an impressionist gesture to the minimalist logic of the composition, detonating a timeline that is visible in the changes in hue produced by the natural light.

The cardboard that I use as a support interests me as it is a constant element of urban space. It is possible to appreciate details that shows the wear of the 4 found cardboard panels, as well as a format with “standard” dimensions of the cardboard industry.
