Lavoro, 2014

Lavoro, 2014. Acrylic on paper, diverse objects. 4.50 x 1.50 x 2 meters

Lavoro is a dialogue between painting and sculpture. I took as a reference the political graffitis of my neighborhood, walls with short but strong messages, painted in a very simple way.

In certain way, work makes man, but man has denigrated the idea of work by mistreating his working class, and so many other social groups. That is why I wanted to show the word work (lavoro) on a crumpled paper and using sticks to help it hold up, like a wall that is coming down, because apart from being mistreated, is tired.
