Vagabundo

El vagabundo es un personaje menor pero recurrente del arte y la literatura quien aparece en las pinturas del siglo XVII; la escritura del siglo XVIII de Thomas De Quincey y otros; e incluso como tropo moderno que se puede apreciar en las actuaciones de Charlie Chaplin o los escritos de los poetas beat como Jack Kerouac. El vagabundo es un explorador desarraigado que refleja al mundo al moverse a través de él. Hay una poesía romántica que refleja el vagabundo, y Ramírez ha encarnado a esta figura a lo largo de su carrera a partir de capturar su espíritu. En esta sala se crea una instalación a partir de la combinación de 19 acciones realizadas en diversas localidades entre 2010 y 2022. En cada una aparece el artista, por sólo unos segundos, como punto focal dentro de su entorno. Sus acciones presentan respuestas a las situaciones físicas, sociales e históricas de cada lugar y a menudo articulan un argumento en contra del poder al centrarse en lo ignorado u olvidado

The vagabond is a minor yet recurrent character in art and literature that appears in 17th century paintings; 18th century literature of Thomas De Quincey and others;  through to a modern trope found in Charlie Chaplin and the Beat Poets such as Jack Kerouac. The vagabond is a rootless wanderer who reflects the world by moving through it. There is a certain poetic romance to the vagabond, and Ramírez has embodied this figure throughout his career capturing its spirit. In this room, 19 actions made in diverse locations between 2010 and 2022 are combined into an immersive installation. In each the artist appears, often for mere second, as a focal point for his surroundings. His passing through, often for mere seconds, and the actions he performs act as responses to the physical, social and historical situations of each place and often articulate an argument against power by focusing on the ignored or forgotten.
