La Cavidad Teatral

La carrera artística de Ramírez se ha visto marcada por un fuerte vínculo con el artista griego-italiano Jannis Kounellis, quien, al ver la obra de Ramírez por primera vez en España en 2009, invitó al artista a vivir y trabajar en Roma en varias ocasiones. Ambos artistas comparten una afinidad en sus actitudes hacia el arte, en dónde una simple acción improvisada o un objeto encontrado en cualquier lugar o momento tienen el mismo potencial poético que una pintura o escultura. Kounellis en algún momento describió a la galería como una “cavidad teatral”. Ramírez, por su parte, interpreta que el mundo externo contiene ese mismo potencial. Hay cavidades por todas partes en el mundo urbano y natural. Espacios entre cosas que llaman la atención de Ramírez. Cada uno un no-lugar a la espera de ser activado y dentro del cual se pueden ejercer libertades que dejan al descubierto y a su vez evaden los impedimentos físicos y burocráticos que nos rodean.

Ramírez’s career to date was marked by a strong bond with the Greek - Italian artist Jannis Kounellis, who, upon seeing Ramírez's work for the first time in Spain in 2009, invited the artist to live and work in Rome. There is a strong affinity between the two artists’ attitudes towards art in which a simple improvised action or found object in any place and any moment could have equal poetry as a painting or sculpture. Kounellis once described the gallery as a “Theatrical Cavity”. Ramírez, on his side applies this same see the outside world as having such potential. There are cavities everywhere in the urban and natural world. The spaces between things that draw Ramírez’s interest. Each is a non-place waiting to be activated and in which freedoms can be acted out that both illuminate and evade the physical and bureaucratic impediments that surround us.
